FAQ's
Will my Insurance cover Craig Cares
Services?
No, neither health insurance nor Medicare
will cover this. However, if you have long term care insurance, they may
cover all or parts of the services depending on your policy. We have
worked with many long term care insurance companies to either get our
clients reimbursed by their insurance company or to bill the insurance
company ourselves.
What if we’re not happy with our
Caregiver?
Our offer of unlimited personnel
replacements guarantees you’ll find the caregiver that’s right for you.
How often will I be billed for services?
Craig Cares bills every two weeks.
Are the Caregivers Bonded and Insured?
Yes, all of our caregivers are bonded and
insured.
Who pays employment taxes and Workers
Compensation?
All of our caregivers are employees of
Craig Cares. We pay all payroll taxes and workers compensation. We do
not use independent contractors.
Who supervises the Caregiver?
A Client Care Coordinator supervises the
caregiver while he or she is working in your home.
What if my Caregiver gets sick or is
temporarily not available?
Craig Cares will send a substitute whose
skills and experience match your needs.
Can I call anytime?
Yes. The Craig Cares office is open Monday
through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 p.m. An On Call Supervisor will answer
the phone after hours and on weekends.
Will our caregiver handle housekeeping and
meal preparation?
All of our caregivers are happy to assist
with meal preparation and light housekeeping duties, such as laundry,
bed making, vacuuming the client's living room, and keeping the kitchen,
bedroom and bathroom, tidy and clean.
How much help with medications can be
given?
Caregivers may assist clients with
medications, which are ordinarily self-administered. Caregivers are not
allowed to administer medications. It is very helpful if a family
member sets up a Med Set (pill organizer) for the client every week.
The caregiver is not allowed to load the Med Set.
What is the difference between a live-in
and 24-hour care?
A live-in caregiver lives in a client’s
home on a 24 hour basis. Live-in caregivers provide safety and
companionship. If a client needs a live-in 7 days a week, generally on
person works for 5 days and another for 2 days. The caregiver is
actively available to work nine hours in a twelve-hour day time period.
The other three hours are designated by law for meal breaks and rest.
After their hours of duty are completed, they may be available to
accommodate a client's needs, once or twice a night, if needed. If,
however, it is reported that a client's needs continue to exceed this
limit, another aide will be assigned to work on a shift basis. While
this care level is more expensive, (in most cases, doubling the cost),
it is also the most attentive care available, particularly appropriate
for very sick, terminal or restless patients.
How do you select your caregivers?
We are very selective with our caregivers.
We believe the most important quality for a caregiver is reliability.
Of almost equal importance is compassion. These are the primary
qualities we are seeking. After filling out the applications in our
office, caregivers are interviewed by a member of our Staffing team. If
they pass the interview process, we check references from past
employers. At that point candidate’s fingerprints are scanned and
submitted to the Department of Justice for a criminal background check.
The candidate’s driving record is also checked via the DMV. Following
that there is an orientation to our company and policies.
How
do you design my personal care plan?
Our support makes the difference. Your personal care
plan is developed with you at the center. We begin by listening. You
select the services that interest you, and together we create a plan
that caters to your daily lifestyle. [learn

What happens next?

maintain the highest quality of life. We accomplish this by developing a
long-term relationship between you, your family, and our caregiver.
